Bloom is seeking a Child and Youth social worker (RSW), or psychotherapist (RP) with a Master’s level of education, registered with the appropriate college (OCSWSSW or CRPO) and 3+ of experience providing therapy to children and youth. This is role has a multifaceted job description:

1. Child and Family Therapy: Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and youth, using various modalities, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, EMDR, play therapy, family therapies, and creative arts therapies among others to address the needs and concerns of children, youth and their families.

2. Strengths-based: Work with children, youth and families to understand the unique needs and strengths of each child or youth. At Bloom we are looking for therapists who work with children who are neurodiverse or identify as LGBTQ+.

3. Child-Centered Approach: Maintain a child-centered therapeutic focus, ensuring that the needs, preferences, and goals of the child or youth are at the forefront of the therapeutic process.

4. Collaborative Teamwork: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, which may include other therapists, social workers, educators, and medical professionals, to provide comprehensive care and support.

5. Continuous Learning: Exhibit a passion for ongoing professional development, demonstrating a growth mindset, and staying updated on the latest research and therapeutic techniques for children and youth.

6. Anti-Oppressive Practice: Practice from an anti-oppressive lens that includes LGBTQ+ affirming care, neurodiversity affirming care, recognizing and respecting diverse backgrounds and identities among clients and their families.

7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including assessment results, treatment plans, progress notes, and any relevant documentation required by regulatory bodies.

8. Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and well-being of children, youth, and families, particularly those who may face discrimination or challenges related to their identity or neurodiversity.

9. Ethical Practice: Adhere to the ethical guidelines and standards set forth by the relevant professional association or licensing board for registered social workers and/or registered psychotherapists.

10.Empowerment: Empower children, youth, and their families to develop coping skills, resilience, and the capacity to develop healthy relationships.

11. Community Engagement: Engage with the community and relevant organizations to promote mental health awareness and resources for children, youth, and their families.

Hours: 10-24 hours per week

Rate: $70-90 per hour

Flexible hours, part-time or full-time

In person at either Bloom’s Waterloo or Kitchener locations
