Fiona is a Registered Social Worker and holds a Masters of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier. She is also a Certified Play Therapy Supervisor. Fiona has expertise in the area of child trauma, grief and attachment. She holds a Children’s Mental Health Certificate from Wilfrid Laurier. Fiona has completed Theraplay ® Level 1. She is also trained in EMDR with additional training in providing EMDR to children. Fiona has been a guest lecturer at Wilfrid Laurier in the Children and Youth Studies Program.
Fiona has over 20 years of experience working with children and their families in various capacities. Fiona has a passion for working with children and their families in supporting them on their journey to wellness. She believes that the most important part of this journey is the therapeutic relationship and creating a safe place for the client to begin their journey. Fiona uses a trauma informed and strengths based approach in working with all clients. She uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including play therapy, EMDR, CBT, Narrative, Mindfulness, Theraplay ®, and Family Systems. Fiona recently completed a Children’s Grief and Bereavement Certificate through Sick Kids Hospital. Fiona is passionate about supporting children and their families through their journey of grief.
Fiona has extensive clinical experience with children and enjoys collaborating with families as they work through children’s mental health issues, bereavement, trauma, attachment and school-based concerns. Fiona enjoys working with children of all ages, starting as young as age three. Fiona is committed to creating a warm and compassionate environment where her clients feel safe and empowered.
