Samantha O’Reilly is a Registered Social Worker who holds a Bachelor and Master of Social Work from the University of Waterloo. Additionally, Samantha holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph. Samantha’s professional background includes working at child and adolescent community counselling organizations in group and individual formats. Samantha has worked with children and families fleeing domestic violence to create safety plans and process trauma. Samantha works with children and adolescents virtually and in-person.
Samantha has an area of expertise working with trauma, divorce and separation, stress, anxiety and emotional regulation. Samantha helps children process difficult experiences and learn coping skills.
Samantha has training and experience working with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Samantha sees each child as unique individuals with their own strengths and she tailors the therapy approach to meet their needs.
Samantha works with the parents and caregivers collaboratively to best get to know and support their child. Samantha works with parents and caregivers to help the child use coping skills and new learning at home.
Samantha enjoys using an art-based and play-based approach to counselling to help children work through their thoughts and feelings in an engaging way.
Samantha has always had an interest and passion for working with children and it is evident is her dedication to each child. She feels it is her privilege to work with children and their families.
