Magda is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Waterloo and and Master of Social Work from the University of Windsor. She is a Play Therapy Intern and a member of the Canadian Association for Play Therapy.
Magda works with children ages 0-10 years old and their caregivers. She has experience and interest in working with: trauma, grief, school-based concerns, sleep concerns, anxiety, family relationships, social struggles, coping with parent separation, and transitions. She has a special interest in supporting caregivers to learn the best ways to connect and nurture the parent-child relationship and create healing. With over 20 years of working with children and youth, Magda is knowledgable on how to best support children and their families at an individual, group, and community level. As a foster parent herself, Magda has specialized experience in parenting children with attachment concerns, trauma, and grief.
Magda believes it is important for children to have stable supports and resources to thrive in all areas of life. She is passionate about helping caregivers connect with different resources and community supports to feel well-equipped on their parenting journey. Her kind, gentle, and understanding manner allows children to feel safe and find comfort in the strong therapeutic relationship.
Magda uses child-centred play therapy to help children and parents reach their goals. This is supplemented in session by her extensive play therapy training. Magda uses a variety of play-based and art therapy approaches in her practice. These creative and child-centered approaches combined with child-friendly evidence-based talk therapy help children to flourish and grow. Focusing on a trusting, reliable, and safe therapeutic relationship allows Magda‘s clients to feel well-supported and successful in their therapy journey. Magda is also fluent and offers therapy in Polish.
