After a fulfilling career in Zookeeping and Animal Care, Josh Rinz now offers a unique therapeutic space. Josh has a Bachelors of Sciences in Biology from the University of North Carolina and a Masters of Theology, specializing in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, ON. He is one of the certified Animal Assisted Therapists in Canada offering specialized consultations for Emotional Support and Service Animals.
Josh brings an enthusiastic and innovative approach to therapy. Working with diverse individuals, families and caregivers, he believes in the importance of creating a safe and engaging space where clients can explore their personal stories and discover their sense of hope within. Josh has special interest, training and experience working specifically with adolescents, individuals on the autism spectrum (as well as, other kinds of neurodiversity), and people with special needs. He strongly believes in supporting the whole ecosystem of an individual, which includes providing specialized support to the families and caregivers of his clients. Josh also has a passion for issues regarding adoption and attachment. He helps individuals and families navigate the complex relationships within adoptive families and for the adoptees themselves.
Josh provides individually tailored sessions to meet the needs and goals of his clients by integrating traditional talk therapy approaches with Animal Assisted Therapy, as well as, inviting pop culture therapy and the wonders of the natural world into the therapeutic space.
