Laura holds a Master of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is also currently completing Wilfrid Laurier University’s Child and Youth Mental Health Certificate and is thoroughly enjoying this opportunity to broaden her knowledge base and expand her toolkit of therapy techniques in order to best serve each and every client.
Laura loves working with neurodiverse children and teens, particularly those with autism, OCD, and ADHD. Laura also specializes in working with adolescents with low self-esteem, depleted self-confidence, and an uncertain sense of identity. Laura supports her clients in finding out what they love, who they are, and how they can be themselves in the world.
Laura’s therapy style pulls from a variety of therapeutic approaches. She believes in tailoring the therapy process to meet the needs and goals of each individual client. By building a strong therapeutic relationship, Laura aims to understand and support all the factors contributing to the growth of each individual. Laura works with techniques from narrative therapy, music therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy to ensure a unique and personalized experience.
Laura always aims to build a strong therapeutic alliance in which the client can feel safe, confident, and supported in their journey towards growth. She believes that everyone has a natural tendency toward personal growth and that sometimes clients simply need help identifying and deconstructing the roadblocks that are preventing it.
