Teen therapy is strengths-based and involves teens in their treatment goals and process. At Bloom, therapists have expertise in working with adolescents from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. They create a space where teens are able to express themselves in the ways that they feel most comfortable, including the use of music, games, spoken word, poetry and other forms of writing, art and animation among others. Bloom therapists use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Sandtray Worldplay, Narrative Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness, Psychoanalytic Therapy, Art Therapy and Music Therapy among others.
Bloom therapists specialize in working with teens who are experiencing issues related to depression, anxiety, OCD, developmental and single incident trauma, ADD/ADHD, ODD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), emotional regulation, impulsiveness and addiction. Bloom therapists also have expertise in the areas of academic or school problems, bullying, healthy relationships, family problems, grief, bereavement and loss, health issues, social skills and issues related to competitive sport. Bloom therapists are sex positive and offer support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning (LGBTQ+) teens. Neurodiverse teens and teens with physical, developmental and/or learning disabilities are offered strengths-based and accessible therapeutic services.
